Maria Rose Scanzillo, age 91, of Reading, formerly of Everett and Saugus, died Monday, August 8, at The Residence at Pearl Street.
Born in Boston on January 2, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Rosaria (Chiaramotta) Brangiforte.
Mrs. Scanzillo was raised and educated in South Boston. She went on to the Catherine Gibbs Business School and had worked as an executive secretary and retired from the APV Manufacturing Company. She had raised a family in Everett and had also spent time in Saugus. Mrs. Scanzillo enjoyed cooking Italian food and traveling to Italy, but most of all she loved her weekly hair appointment.
She was the beloved wife of the late Emilio M. Scanzillo. She was the cherished mother of Stephanie J. Perrone and her husband Pietro of Lynnfield. She was the adoring grandmother of Paul Perrone of Stoneham, Christopher Perrone and his wife Erin of Pennsylvania and Nicola Connell and her husband Spencer of Saugus. She was the great grandmother of Aiden Perrone. She was the sister of Emma Graves, Eleanor Fisichelli and the late Rose Saia and Phil, Frank, Salvatore, Rocco, Joe, and George Brangiforte.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Adelaide Church, 708 Lowell St., Peabody on Saturday at 10:00am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday from 4-6pm. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
