Obituary: Betty J. (Nicholson) Carter, 95

July 23, 1927 – July 25, 2022

Betty J. Carter (Nicholson) a longtime resident of Reading, passed away Monday morning, July 25, 2022.   She was 95 years of age.

Beloved wife of the late Russell E. Carter, she is survived by two daughters, June Parsons and her husband Robert of Marstons Mills; and Elaine Weiner and her husband Edward of Burlington; and she was preceded in death by one son, the late Steven Carter.

She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jeremy Parsons, Melinda Parsons, Shoshana Rothman and her husband Joshua, Jonathan Weiner and his wife Sara, and four great grandchildren, Julian, Maksym, Samson and Madeline.

Betty was a longtime member of the Old South United Methodist Church, Priscilla Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Social Order of the Beauceant and many other organizations.

Betty loved to sew, enjoyed hosting friends and family at their summer home in New Hampshire, but was also a motorcycle enthusiast! She and Russ toured the country together on his motorcycle into their seventh decade.

Visiting hours will be at the Douglass, Edgerley & Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn St. (cor. of Woburn St.) Reading on Thursday morning, July 28 from 10am-12pm followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 12pm.  Burial will follow at the Forest Glen Cemetery in Reading.
