Obituary: Paul H. Fitzgerald, 80

October 16, 1941 – May 24, 2022

Paul H. Fitzgerald, a resident of Reading for 54 years, passed away on May 24, 2022, at the Winchester Hospital in Winchester, Massachusetts. He was 80 years of age.

Paul was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on October 16, 1941, the son of the late Henry C. and Ruth T. (Nolan) Fitzgerald. Paul was the proud owner and operator of Jacques Printing Company in Boston and Charlestown. He was an avid card player and painter. He loved spending his summers in Hummarock in Marshfield, Massachusetts. He proudly served 6 years in the Army National Guard. His family was first and foremost in his life, Paul’s greatest joy was to spend time with Peggy, his wife of 56 years, his children and 10 grandchildren. Nothing made him happier than being surrounded by family.

Paul was the beloved husband of Margaret “Peggy” A. (Arenge) Fitzgerald for 56 years. Devoted father of Kimberly M. Oswald and her late husband Donald Oswald, Jr. of N. Andover; Stacey A. Thomson and her husband Brian of N. Andover; Dean J. Fitzgerald of Rowley and the late Scott P. Fitzgerald and his wife Eva Fitzgerald of Salisbury. Cherished brother of Jeanne Mooney of Dedham, Anita MacNeill of Marshfield, Thomas Fitzgerald of Reading and the late David Fitzgerald. Father-in-law of Lynn Fitzgerald of Newbury. Loving grandfather of Nicholas, Ryan, Katie, Rachel, Kaleigh, Shawn, Kiera, Payton, Aidan, and Maggie.

A visitation will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 from 10-11:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Athanasius Church 300 Haverhill St. Reading at 12:00pm. Burial will follow at Wood End Cemetery in Reading. In celebration of Paul’s life, the family asks anyone attending if you would like to wear something bright or green, Paul’s favorite color.
