Obituary: Vincenza M. (Galileo) Scali, 91

October 11, 1930 ~ March 31, 2022

Vincenza M. (Galileo) Scali, beloved wife of the late Rocco Orlando Scali, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at the age of 91. Born in Italy, in Grotteria, Calabria, the loving daughter of the late Elvira Galileo.

Vincenza grew up in Grotteria. While there, she worked as a pattern drafting teacher. In 1953, after she married her husband, Rocco, they came to America to begin a life here, settling in the North End and then Somerville, where she raised her daughter, Rosemary. She worked as an extremely talented seamstress. After she and her husband retired they settled in Reading. Vincenza was an incredible cook and took great pride in her home. It was always impeccably clean and welcoming. She was a loving and caring Wife, Mother, and Nonna and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is the devoted mother of Rosemary Scali Belt and her husband Stephen of Reading. Cherished Nonna of Stefan Scali Belt and Samantha Scali Belt. Loving sister of the late Giuseppina and her husband Pascuale Calacoci, the late Teresa and her husband Salvatore Lombardo. Loving sister-in-law of Elisa Scali and Salvatore Scali and sister-in-law Carol Scali. She is also the aunt to many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to visiting hours at the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St., North Reading (Rt. 28 and Park St. at the Reading Line) on Tuesday, April 5th, from 9:30 am to 11 am, with a service to follow at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home.

Interment to follow at Charles Lawn Memorial Park in Reading.
