Richard C. Romano, 85, beloved husband of Catherine (Fricia) Romano, entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 25th, 2022. Born in Hanover, New Hampshire, he is the beloved son of the late Albert and Lena Clorinda Romano.
Richard grew up in a close family in White River Junction, Vermont, and was a graduate of Hartford High School, class of 1954. Following graduation, at just 17 Richard joined and served his country in the United States Army where he got to see the world. Using the GI Bill, he returned to Boston and attended Burdett College, and graduated from Northeastern University with a Degree in Accounting.
It was in Boston while still in night school when he met the love of his life Catherine and went on to settle and raise his family in Reading MA. For over 30 years, Richard worked as an accountant and retired from his career as Vice President General Manager at Langley Handley Corporation where he enjoyed much success and accomplishment.
He was an avid sports fan and especially loved horse racing where he could use his analytical talents to study odds and predict races. He loved following the stock market as well as all current events. He enjoyed traveling and music and always had time for a good cigar. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his adoring family.
In addition to being the beloved husband of Catherine, he is the devoted father of Lori Richard of North Andover, Cloie Romano of Reading and the late Dr. Annette McDonough. Cherished grandfather of Anthony Richard and his significant other Josalyne Resendes of Billerica, Jonathan Richard of North Andover, and the late Stephen Richard. Treasured great grandfather of Joseph, Anthony, Jr., and Audrinna Richard. Beloved brother of Patricia Castellini and her husband Herb of White River Junction, Vermont. He is predeceased by his dear siblings Antoinette Mayette, Dr. Albert Romano, and Pauline McCarthy. He also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, and cousins that he adored.
Visiting hours will be held at the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St., (Corner of Park St. and Rt. 28 at the Reading Line) on Saturday, March, 5th, 2022 from 11 am to 12 pm with a funeral service to take place at the funeral home at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow with military honors at the Wood End Cemetery in Reading.
