Obituary: Dorothy Cianci Krekorian, 87

November 21, 1934 – February 23, 2022

Dorothy Cianci Krekorian, 87, a Reading resident of over 60 years, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. She was the adored wife of the late Kay Krekor Krekorian.

Raised in the Orient Heights section of East Boston, she was the daughter of the late William and Adelgisa (Delsi) Cavicchi Cianci. Dottie married Kay, the love of her life, on September 16, 1955, with whom she enjoyed over 50 years of marriage. They joined the community of Reading shortly after and remained for the duration of their lives, raising three children and forming lifelong relationships.

Dottie was a longtime member of the Meadowbrook Golf Club where she golfed, played tennis, and socialized for many years. She was a frequent patron of the Last Corner Restaurant in Reading and enjoyed her Friday morning coffee with her dearest friends at McDonalds.

Dottie will be fondly remembered by all who knew her for being beautifully dressed, fiercely independent, and entirely capable. But most of all, she will be remembered for being the most loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. The greatest joy of her life in the later years centered around being Nana to her ten grandchildren, with each of whom she had her own special bond.

Dottie marveled at all they did and dedicated herself to taking an interest in each of their journeys. It never ended there, as Dottie extended love to all of the important people in her grandchildren’s lives as well. For her, there was never enough time with her grandchildren.

Dorothy is lovingly survived by her children – Steve Krekorian and his wife Joyce of Andover; Rob Krekorian and his wife Kim of Londonderry, NH; and Sheila Krekorian Tully of Reading. She is also survived by ten grandchildren – Elise, Brett, Kara and Shea Krekorian; Ainsley and Landon Krekorian; and Scottie, Grace, Troy and Cole Tully. Dorothy is further survived by her brother Francis Cianci of Hudson, Florida as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A funeral service will be held at the Old South United Methodist Church, 6 Salem St., Reading on Monday, March 7 at 11:00 am. An hour of visitation will be held at the church prior to the service on Monday from 10:00-11:00 am. Burial will be at the Charles Lawn Cemetery in Reading. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy’s memory may be made to The Reading Scholarship Foundation, P.O. Box 492, Reading, MA 01867. Arrangements by the Douglass, Edgerley & Bessom Funeral Home, Reading.
