Obituary: Mary T. (Sullivan) Cummings, 93

December 11, 1928 ~ January 11, 202

Mary T. Cummings, Beloved wife of the late Francis J. Cummings, passed away on Tuesday, January 11th, 2022 at Artis Senior Living in Reading. Born in Boston, she is the daughter of the late William and Lucy (O’Brien) Sullivan.

Mary was born and raised on Mission Hill and was a proud graduate of Mission Church High School. She married her high school sweetheart Francis and they settled in Reading in 1961 to raise their family. She enjoyed summers in Green Harbor and winters in Clearwater, FL. Mary was ahead of her time and realized the importance of self-care. She enjoyed reading, knitting, exercise, her daily “rest” and her weekly trip to the hairdresser. She had boundless energy and will be deeply missed by her large circle of family and dear friends.

She is the devoted mother of Michael F. Cummings and his wife Catherine of Marblehead, Paul Cummings and his wife Nancy of Reading, John P. Cummings and his wife Pamela of Providence and Nancy Lordan and her husband James of Reading. Cherished grandmother of Patrick Cummings and his wife Chelsea of Portland, Oregon, Margaret Stratigakis and her husband Peter of Danvers, John-Michael Cummings of Underwood, Washington, Sarah and Brian Cummings of Reading, Jake, Owen, Luke and Isabelle Cummings of Providence and Amy, Kerry and James Lordan of Reading. Great Grandmother of William and Cassidy Cummings and Delia and Briga Stratigakis. She is the loving twin sister of Margaret McManus of Needham and the late William, Leonard, Donald, and Richard Sullivan. Mary also leaves many nieces, nephews, and devoted friends including their long-time family friend Peter O’Reilly of Arlington, and her indispensable hairdresser Jen.

Services for Mary will be held privately with a Celebration of Life to be held in the Spring.
