Alma Louise (Goodwin) Van Horn of Woburn, formerly of Reading and Nahant, passed away on December 10, 2021, at the Brightview Country Club Heights in Woburn. She was 100 years of age.
Alma was born in Nahant, Massachusetts on March 27, 1921, the daughter of Ellis E. and Cora A. (Crooker) Goodwin. Alma was raised and educated in Nahant. She worked briefly as a secretary for G.E. in Lynn prior to getting married. While living in Reading Alma became an active member of the Old South United Methodist Church in Reading. She was also a member of the Julia Circle.
Alma was the beloved wife of the late Corliss T. Van Horn whom she was married to for 63 years. She was the devoted mother of Bruce C. Van Horn and his wife Debbie of Woburn and Gretchen L. Baker and her husband Ron of Londonderry NH. Loving grandmother of Eric and Geoffrey Baker, Kimberley Van Horn, Melanie Powell, and Brian Van Horn. Loving great-grandmother of Alexander, Matthew, Jason, and Derek. Cherished sister of the late Barbara J. Pearson.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at the Douglass, Edgerley, and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading at 12:00pm. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-12. Burial is private.
