Obituary: William D. Lordan, 82

August 18, 1939 – September 19, 2021

William D. Lordan “Bill”, a resident of Reading for 48 years passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on September 19, 2021. He was 82 years of age. 

Bill was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts on August 18, 1939, the son of the late Henry F. and Margaret V. (Kiley) Lordan. Bill was a graduate of Charlestown High School. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged as a Private First Class. Bill was a retired Captain from the Revere Fire Department where he worked for many years. Bill was an active parishioner at St. Agnes church in Reading attending Mass weekly. He was active in Reading youth sports coaching soccer, baseball and basketball and was an avid Boston sports fan. He enjoyed wood carving and art painting. 

Bill was the beloved husband of Maureen P. (Durgan) Lordan. Devoted father of Matt P. Lordan and his wife Gretchen of Litchfield, NH, and the late Greg M. Lordan. Cherished brother of Patricia McAvoy of Hudson, NH, Peggy Bowen of Reading, Tim Lordan of Middleton, and the late Henry Lordan. Loving grandfather of Kathleen and Erin Lordan. 

His funeral will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley, and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St. ) Reading on Friday, September 24 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Agnes Church 186 Woburn St. Reading at 10:30 am. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lynn. Funeral home visiting hours will be Thursday from 5:00-8:00 pm.
