Obituary: Bertha Ann Cail, 86

August 04, 1934 – July 10, 2021

Ann (Teasley) Cail of Reading died July 10, 2021. Born August 4, 1934, in Hart County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Clyde B. Teasley, Sr. and Laura Elizabeth Brown Teasley. She is survived by her son Douglas (Annette) of Lisle, Illinois; her daughter, Annette of Reading; her daughter Sara Petty (John) of Bennington, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Jennifer Cail of Hagerstown, Maryland; Aaron Cail of Lisle, Illinois; Jennifer Hicks (Brad) of Bennington, Nebraska; Amanda Smedra, of Omaha, Nebraska; four great-grandchildren Lauren, Skylar, Jackson, and Sawyer. She is also survived by her brother, Clyde B. Teasley, Jr., (Marinelle) of Bogart, Georgia; her sister-in-law, Vivian S. Teasley of Athens, Georgia, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her husband Victor H. Cail, Jr, her older sister Grace Teasley Dudley and her husband Cecil of Covington, Georgia, her brother R. J. Teasley of Athens, Georgia, younger sister Shirley Moore and her husband, Jim, of Greensboro, Georgia; and her sister-in-law Elizabeth Racine, of Middleton, Massachusetts.

Ann was educated in the Elbert County School system, Elberton, Georgia, and attended Northeastern University in Burlington, Massachusetts. She served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. She was a member of the New England Aviators Association in the 1960s and obtained her Private Pilot’s License.

Ann worked as a Consultant for the Harker Organization, Inc., Wakefield, MA, for 6 ½ years. She then joined the A. W. Chesterton Company, Stoneham, MA, in 1980 and retired as Manager of the Advertising Department in 1999. She then worked for Wyeth BioPharma/Pfizer Pharmaceutical Andover, Massachusetts, and retired again in 2010.

Ann was a 60+ year member of Old South United Methodist Church, Reading, MA, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, was on various committees over the years, and was a member of the Joanna Circle. She was a member of Priscilla Chapter No. 52 of the Order of the Eastern Star serving as Worthy Matron in 1990-91.

Ann was active in youth organizations. She was a member of the Parents’ Advisory Committee at Norwich University, Vermont. She served as Treasurer for the Reading Chapter of the American Field Service Organization. She was Mother Advisor of Reading Assembly No. 29 of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, and in later years, served as a Grand Deputy of the Grand Assembly of Massachusetts, IORG.

Visiting hours will be at the Douglass, Edgerley & Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn St, Reading, MA, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M on Thursday, July 15, 2021. The funeral will be at the Funeral Home on Friday, July 16, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow the service at the Charles Lawn Cemetery, Reading, Massachusetts.
