Reading Police Provide Update on Ongoing Investigation Following Incident on Prescott Street

READING — Chief David Clark reports that the Reading Police Department is actively investigating an incident that occurred on Prescott Street Friday morning.

At about 8:30 a.m., Reading Police were dispatched to the area of 83 Prescott St. after a 911 caller reported hearing yelling coming from the home, then seeing a male jump from a window and enter a car outside, which then pulled away.

Police arrived in the area a short time later and found the man sitting on the sidewalk approximately one block west of the home, near the car that he’d entered as a passenger earlier. He appeared to have suffered deep lacerations and multiple cuts, which an initial investigation indicated may have been caused by a knife, as well as broken glass from the window.

The man was transported by ambulance to an area hospital to undergo treatment for his injuries.

Reading Police requested mutual-aid support through the Northeast Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) SWAT Team, which has since cleared the home and determined there was nobody else inside at the time they entered.

Prescott Street remains closed from Woburn Street to Sunnyside Street.

Reading Police are continuing to investigate, and there is not believed to be any threat to the community in connection with the incident
