Obituary: Geralyn M. Drohan, 72

1948 – 2021

Geralyn M. (Cunningham) Drohan 72, beloved wife of Thomas J. Drohan, died Friday, March 12, 2021, at Salem Hospital. Born in Winchester, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Devaney) Cunningham. She was raised in Reading and graduated from Reading High School. She continued her education, earning a nursing degree from the Lawrence Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Medford, class of 1969.

Mrs. Drohan had been employed for many years as a registered nurse at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Prior to that, she had worked as a registered nurse for the Gillette Corporation at the Prudential Center in Boston and at E.G. & G in Salem, MA. A resident of West Peabody for forty-nine years, Geralyn was a parishioner of St. Adelaide’s Church in Peabody. She was a loving wife, mother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her husband with whom she shared forty-nine years of marriage, she is survived by her son, Adam Drohan of Salem & Peabody, as well as her lifelong best friend, and Adam’s Godmother, Nancy Bryant, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Hazel Foley, Florence Murray, Edward Cunningham, and Francis Cunningham.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Chestnut St., Peabody, Saturday, March 20, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. All attendees are required to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
