Obituary: Thomas G. Fratto, Sr., 70

October 04, 1950 – February 16, 2021

Thomas G. Fratto, Sr. (Chippie), a resident of Reading for 34 years, passed away suddenly at his home on February 16, 2021.  He was 70 years of age.  Chippie was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on October 4, 1950, the son of the late Thomas R. and Camille (Citino) Fratto.

Chippie, a 1968 graduate of Cambridge Latin, played baseball for three years in the Pirates organization after high school. He received his undergraduate and master’s degrees in math from Northeastern University. He taught math at Cambridge Rindge and Latin for over 30 years before retiring in 2007. He was also an adjunct professor at UMass Boston for 40 years. He organized a yearly golf tournament for the Gary Fratto scholarship fund for over 20 years. He enjoyed long-term friendships with his friends from Mount Auburn.

Beloved husband of Marie J. (Cignetti) for 49 years.  Devoted father of Jena L. Howard and fiancé Trenton Bordok of Woburn, Thomas G. Fratto, Jr. of Reading, Gregg T. Fratto and his wife Melissa of N. Andover and Kara M. Fratto of Reading.  Loving grandfather of 14 and cherished brother of Judi Donnelly and her husband Tom of Burlington, and the late Gary Fratto.  He is survived by many close relatives and friends.

Due to the pandemic, his funeral and burial are private.  There are no visiting hours. His funeral Mass will be live-streamed from St. Agnes Church on Thursday, February 25, 2021, at 10:30AM.  Go to readingcatholic.org
