Obituary: Lorraine E. Ackerman, 84

September 15, 1936 – December 12, 2020

Lorraine E. (Williams) Ackerman of Reading, formerly a resident of Bedford for 40 years and Somerville, passed away on December 12, 2020, at the Winchester Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Winchester.  She was 84 years of age. 

Lorraine was born in Somerville, Massachusetts on September 15, 1936, the daughter of the late Manuel and Irene (Rose) Williams.  She worked for the MITRE Corporation for many years as an Accounting Clerk.  She enjoyed needlepoint, knitting, and graphic art design. 

Lorraine was the devoted mother of Walter E. Ackerman, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Kansas and Lorraine E. Murphy and her husband John of North Reading.  Loving grandmother of Katie Moulison and her husband Mike of North Reading and Tom Murphy of Brooklyn, NY.  Cherished sister of Larry Williams of Stoneham, Eleanor Taddeo of Methuen, and Christine Rubinski of Malden. She was also the aunt of many loving nieces and nephews.  She was also the longtime companion to Richard Kelley of Woburn. 

A visitation will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Thursday, December 17, 2020, from 5-7 PM. Masks must be worn and social distancing observed. A private Mass will be celebrated on Friday at St. Athanasius Church in Reading followed by burial at Riverside Cemetery in North Reading.
