Shirley Evelyn (Mills) Fairchild of Reading at 95. March 16th, 2020.
Beloved wife of John for 65 years. Adored mother of Barbara Burns of Reading, David and his wife Angeline of Soddy Daisy Tennessee, and Marsha and her longtime partner Jeremy Dolan of Stoneham. “Mom” of James Fairchild and his wife Deidre and Lee and his wife Elizabeth of San Diego, California. Grandmother of 8, Great Grandmother of 8.
Born in Everett on April 15th, 1924 to the late Frank and Sally (Butt) Mills. She is predeceased by her parents, and sisters Marjorie Wilson and Barbara Hagan. Graduate of Everett High School Class of 1942, and Simmons College Class of 1946. She and John were married on August 28th, 1954, built their house in Reading, where she lived for the remainder of her life. While she was known for her love of cooking, generosity, and love of animals, nothing matched the love she felt for those closest to her. Her greatest and proudest achievement was her family. She was one of a kind and will certainly be missed.
A Private burial will be held at Forest Glen Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank all those responsible for allowing her to remain in her home until the very end.
