Dear Reading Community,
I am proud to be supporting Erin Gaffen in her candidacy for School Committee. Over the past few years, I have found Erin to be a true leader for our town and schools. She is committed to improving our community and has demonstrated this through her extensive involvement in committees such as the Joshua Eaton School Council, advocating for additional classroom space at the elementary level, leading the YES for Reading campaign, and actively participating as a Town Meeting member.
Erin is a highly qualified candidate with a degree in special education and brings life experience as both an educator and administrator. Additionally, she will have a child at the elementary, middle and high school levels next year, giving her firsthand knowledge of how different schools in town are run. It would be a huge asset having a School Committee member that can fully understand the multiple points of view within our school community, from students and parents, as well as teachers and administration.
I am confident that Erin would bring knowledge and passion to her role on School Committee. When discussing educational topics, Erin does her research, collects data and is prepared with a wealth of information. She also has an empathic mindset and takes the time to listen to all points of view, including those that may be different from her own. She carefully balances the facts and data with personal stories to make informed decisions. These are the attributes we want in a candidate who will be overseeing the decision making for our school system.
I hope you will join me on March 3rd, in voting for Erin Gaffen for a three-year seat on the School Committee.
Sincerely,
Sarah Doane
