In celebration of the Bicentennial of Henry David Thoreau’s birth, Tom Hersey, Professor of English at University of Massachusetts Lowell, will lecture on Thoreau’s essay Civil Disobedience. This non-violent protest manifesto inspired Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr.; its import is still evident today.
