Hunt Park Playground Renovations to Begin Soon

Playground Will Be Ready For Use By Summer

The Reading Department of Public Works will soon begin to dismantle the existing Hunt Park Playground to make way for renovations that will take place this spring. The dismantling of the playground will begin in mid-January, weather permitting. In its place will be a variety of new playground equipment.

The playground abuts Eaton Street and Pleasant Street and is located next to the Hunt Park Memorial Field, which is home to many Reading Little League games as well as special recreational events like the Challenger Baseball Tournament.

The playground renovation will be funded through the Town of Reading Capital Plan. A subcommittee has been formed to layout expectations for the playground and to decide which equipment to purchase. A public meeting will be scheduled before actual construction begins.

The playground is scheduled to be completed by early summer and will be out of use until that time.
