DESCRIPTION:March 22\, 2026\, 11:30 am\nUnitarian Universalist Church of Reading\n239 Woburn Street Reading\, MA\nReading\, MA — The Love is a Verb Social Justice Team of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Reading is proud to invite the public to a talk by the esteemed Reverend Dr. Clyde Grubbs. Rev. Dr. Grubbs\, a UU minister and indigenous activist\, will be speaking on Sunday\, March 22nd at 11:30AM in the Sanctuary. His talk\, entitled ‘Our Little Empire\,’ focuses on the centuries that human communities have sought to define themselves by the power they projected to the world. It is a perfect lead up to the next “No Kings Day” protests scheduled for March 28th. \nThe Rev. Dr. Clyde Grubbs is a Unitarian Universalist minister who has served congregations in Indiana\, Quebec\, Massachusetts\, Texas\, Florida and California. He presently is serving as Minister at Large of the Tuckerman Creative Ministries for Justice and Healing\, Spiritual Director for Blue Hills Spiritual Direction\, and as the Affiliate Community Minister for the First Parish UU-Canton\, a Neponset River UU Community. \nClyde has been a member of the Diverse Revolutionary Unitarian Universalist Multicultural Ministries (DRUUMM) since its founding. Clyde also has served on the UUMA Executive as its portfolio holder for Anti-racism\, Anti-oppression and Multiculturalism and later served as a member of the UUA Board of Trustees. \nClyde honors his Native American heritage (Texas Cherokee) which informs his spiritual understanding and practice as well as his anti-racist and anti-oppressive commitment. He has worked for peace\, justice and equality since he was in the Unitarian Universalist youth movement.

Sales will take place indoors and under the tent. Booths include Jewelry\, Attic Treasures\, Toys and Kids Books\, Silent Auction\, Potpourri (new items)\, Boutique (handmade items)\, Raffle\, Live Music\, Baked Goods\, Country Store\, Snack Bar\, and Puzzles. All spaces are handicap accessible. \nThe Silent Auction will be on app.bidbeacon.com. Use the code BC2K2M to find the Kris Kringle Fair Silent Auction 2025. All items will be on display during the fair. Bidding will open earlier in the week and close at 3 pm on November 8. Pick up your winnings on November 9 between 11:30 am and 2 pm. \nAmong this year’s Raffle items are a $200 Amazon gift card\, $100 worth of lottery tickets\, and a beautiful patchwork quilt designed and made by the UUCR Quilters. This year’s quilt is “A New Dawn.” \nCome at 9 to enjoy fresh-baked scones from the Snack Bar while they last\, or come at lunchtime to enjoy homemade vegan chili\, hot dogs\, and many other treats. All of the Snack Bar offerings are nut-free. \nThe Kris Kringle Fair is the church’s biggest fellowship event and fundraiser of the year. When the fair comes around each fall\, everyone at UUCR organizes\, donates\, bakes\, cooks\, sings\, plays music\, greets\, staffs tables\, or shops—working side by side to make this daylong fair a much-anticipated and enjoyed event for the church\, for Reading\, and for surrounding communities. \nChurch services and Religious Education classes are held in person on Sunday mornings at 10 am.
