DESCRIPTION:Reading Public Library to host conversation on the life and legacy of basketball legend and civil rights leader.\nREADING\, MA — Community members are invited to attend a special film discussion as part of the Game Changers Media Series on Thursday\, March 12\, from 7:00–8:30 p.m. at the Reading Public Library Community Room (Rooms A & B). \nThe program will center on the documentary Bill Russell: My Life\, My Way\, which explores the extraordinary life and legacy of Bill Russell\, the legendary basketball champion\, civil rights advocate\, and influential leader whose impact extended far beyond the court. \nThrough guided discussion and selected film clips\, participants will examine Russell’s remarkable career and his role as a principled voice for social justice. The program will explore how Russell used his platform to challenge inequality\, demonstrate courageous leadership\, and redefine the role of athletes in shaping social change. \nThe event is designed to foster thoughtful conversation and shared learning\, encouraging participants to reflect on Russell’s enduring influence on sports\, leadership\, and civil rights. No prior viewing of the film is required\, and community members of all backgrounds are welcome to participate. \nThe discussion will be facilitated by community leaders and members of the Ad Hoc Commemoration Establishment Committee\, which works to honor Russell’s legacy and contributions to civil rights and social justice. \nThis program is presented in partnership with the Reading Public Library.
