SUMMARY:RPL Storytelling & Public Speaking
DESCRIPTION:Reading Public Library (RPL)\, Reading\, MA—Whether you like to tell a good story or read it\, the Library’s got you covered this summer with programs for adults and teens. \nTake an hour to spend time with your summer read. At our Silent Reading Parties\, you come to the Library with your book. Read it in silence\, in the company of other readers\, for an hour\, and finally\, gather in the Community Room to enjoy refreshments and talk with others about your book(s). \nSilent Reading Parties will be held on July 7 at 2:30 p.m.\, July 23 at 6:00 p.m.\, and August 9 at noon. \nIf you’re ready to take your writing from the page to the stage\, check out our workshops held in collaboration with Reading’s Writers’ Collaborative Learning Center and the professionals at Redwood Speaking. You’ll learn how to write\, refine\, and tell a compelling story. Then\, put it all together at our finale: Reading Voices-Tell Your Story Live!\, a story slam on August 23. \nWorkshops included are: “Own Your Voice: Unleash Your Story in Writing” on July 7\, and “The Art of Storytelling and Public Speaking” on July 28 and August 12. \nFind details on all of these summer reading programs and more at our online event calendar: readingpl.libnet.info/events or stop by the Library! \nRooted in Reading is made possible by grant funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
