DESCRIPTION:Artists of all ages invited to submit original bookmarks inspired by their favorite books — entries accepted May 5–24\n\nReading\, MA – Whitelam Books is excited to announce a bookmark design contest beginning Monday\, May 5 and running through Saturday\, May 24. Whitelam Books is located in downtown Reading at 610 Main Street\, near the intersection of Haven Street and Main Street. \nThis event is free and open to the public – all are welcome! \nAbout the Event: \nCreativity is celebrated as Whitelam Books launches its first-ever bookmark design contest! All are encouraged to submit a colorful bookmark that is inspired by the artist’s favorite book! One winning bookmark will be selected from each of five categories: Pre-K – 2nd\, 3rd – 5th\, 6th – 8th\, 9th – 12th\, and Adult. Each winner will have their bookmark distributed at Whitelam Books during the summer\, and will receive 25 bookmarks of their winning design to share with friends. Additionally each winner will receive a $25 Whitelam Books gift card. Entry forms are available in store and at WhitelamBooks.com.

DESCRIPTION:Support local beautification efforts and take home vibrant plants and homemade treats at this beloved community tradition\n\n\n\nThe Reading Garden Club invites the community to its Annual Plant Sale\, taking place on the Reading Town Common on Saturday\, May 17\, 2025\, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine. \nThis cherished spring tradition is the club’s primary fundraiser\, supporting the maintenance and beautification of several community spaces\, including the gardens at Town Hall\, the War Memorial\, Parker Tavern\, and the planters at the Public Library. \nShoppers can look forward to a wide selection of high-quality plants. Offerings will include annual flowers\, herbs\, vegetable plants\, hanging baskets\, and a variety of perennials grown and donated by Garden Club members. \nWe accept cash\, checks\, and credit cards. Other community groups will have information booths on the Common. \nCome early for the best selection and help support the Garden Club’s mission to keep Reading blooming!
