Swaps, winter energy tips, music, gardening, and youth programs highlight the Library’s fall schedule through November
Reading Public Library (RPL), Reading, MA — Continuing through November, the Library has fall programs to support sustainability and community spirit.
Seasonal and Holiday Decor is the focus of our next no-buy community swap on Saturday, October 10. The donation period is open from October 1-9 (remember, no donations on swap day!)—freshen up your space with new holiday looks. Guidelines for donations and timing may be found on our online calendar. Then, our annual favorite, the Puzzle and Game Swap, returns on Saturday, November 7.
On October 5, the energy experts at RMLD come to the Library to present savvy tips to help you prepare for winter. From heat pumps and cost-saving programs to the benefits of public power, you’ll be ready for the change in seasons. Later, on October 29, guitarist Art Grossman returns to perform and talk about Folk Music and the 1960s Revolution. Come for the music, stay for the stories—and explore why these songs still matter today. Friend of the Library Dave Williams visits on November 2 with the latest tips to keep backyard birds fed during the winter while keeping squirrels at bay.
Just for kids, we have two special community programs. The Reading Is Revolutionary initiative continues on October 20 with Your Voice, Your Choice, for children in grades 3-5 with an adult. Create signs inspired by the book Rise Up! by Rachel C. Katz. Registration is now open for Citizen Kids. Based on Roots & Shoots, a youth action program from the Jane Goodall Institute, this six-week series starting Tuesday, November 3, lets kids plan and execute a project of their choice to make a difference in the community! For kids in grades 3-5.
