Running for Good on Thursday, July 16!
Reading, MA — Get ready to run with the Reading Lions Club and the Friends of Reading Recreation! The Journey for Sight, the annual charity 5K Road Race and 1-Mile Walk, will take place Thursday, July 16, at 6:30 p.m., beginning and ending at Memorial Park on Harrison Street.
All proceeds from the race will be donated to the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund (MLERF) and other vision-related charities that finance basic eye research at world-renowned institutions, including Mass. Eye and Ear in Boston. The Reading Lions Club has donated more than $350,000 from the proceeds of this race to eye research and is excited to continue these efforts in conjunction with the Friends of Reading Recreation (FORR).
Race Highlights
- T-shirts will be given to the first 250 entrants.
- Awards will be presented to the overall Male, Female, and Non-Binary 5K winners.
- Awards will also be presented to the top three Male, Female, and Non-Binary finishers in each age group:
- 15 and under
- 16–19
- 20–29
- 30–39
- 40–49
- 50–59
- 60–69
- 70–79
- 80+
- Runners of all ages are welcome.
In addition to awards and T-shirts, refreshments, pizza, and water will be available after the race for all competitors, along with post-race raffle prize drawings. Join us for this worthwhile event and enjoy a fun family evening in the heart of Reading.

- Registration Fees:
- $30 pre-registration / $35 race day
- Ages 17 and under: $20 pre-registration / $25 race day
