August 30, 1945 – May 27, 2026

Thomas A. Colella, Sr., a resident of Woburn for over 20 years, formerly of Reading, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on May 27, 2026. He was 80 years of age. Thomas was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 30, 1945, the son of the late Alfred J. Colella, Sr. and Mary O. (Papa) Colella.
Tom grew up in Everett and Medford, MA and attended Medford High School where he met his late wife Barbara Kelly Colella. They built a family together and raised them in Reading Ma. Him and his brother Rick owned and ran a trucking business called Colella trucking. In his later years he enjoyed working for Ray Lepore Septic. He was often referred to as The Working Man. His hobbies included remote control cars and boats with his late son Tommy. He also attended the shooting range with his brother Chris. But most of all he loved his family and was a dedicated father and grandfather.
Thomas was the beloved husband of the late Barbara A. (Kelly) Colella. Devoted father of Dawn M. Moran and her husband Robert of Reading, Michelle M. Colella of Wakefield, Marie Zwicker of Woburn and the late Thomas A. Colella, Jr., and his life partner Barbara Berg of Concord NH. Cherished brother of Alfred Colella, Jr and his wife Marianne of Sandown NH, Richard Colella and his late wife Judith of Wakefield NH, Christopher Colella and his wife Donna of Danbury NH, and the late Lorraine Duggan. Loving grandfather of Brianna, Leon, Jamie and Tommy and loving great grandfather of Angel.
A visitation will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 4-7pm. A private funeral and burial will be held the following day.
