Reading Seeks Volunteers to Honor Veterans Ahead of Memorial Day 2026

Residents, scouts, and community groups invited to help place flags and flowers on veterans’ graves as part of a long-standing community tribute and America’s 250th birthday commemoration

Reading, MA — The Town of Reading Veterans Services invites residents, scouts, and community groups to help place flags and flowers on veterans’ graves in preparation for Memorial Day 2026 and America’s 250th birthday. This meaningful tradition ensures those who served our country are properly honored and remembered.

Volunteer Schedule:

  • Wednesday, May 20: 9:00 AM – Meet at Cemetery Garage (with Superintendent Ray Boyd and Veterans Service Officer Will Valliere)
  • Thursday, May 21: 9:00 AM – Meet at Charles Lawn, then proceed to Forest Glen
  • Friday May 22: 9:00 AM – Meet at Wood End
  • Saturday May 23: 9:00 AM – Meet at Laurel Hill (Scouts and all residents welcome)

Whether you’re a returning volunteer or joining for the first time, your help makes a difference in preserving this important tribute. We look forward to seeing familiar and new faces as we come together to honor our veterans.
