WHITE, Eris P. A long-time resident of Reading, MA, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026. She was 101. Born in Manchester, CT, to John Porterfield and Ella Porterfield (Griffey). She was a proud graduate of the University of Connecticut, where she was president of her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma. Over the years, Eris was a 20-plus-year volunteer at Winchester Hospital, a reading instructor in Reading, and worked at St. Paul Insurance Company. She was predeceased by her husband, Nathan C. White; as well as her daughter, Megan Evans; and her brother, John Donald Porterfield. She is survived by her son, Keith White of Petaluma, CA, her son, Jonathan White of Orleans, MA and his wife, Joyce and her son, Jeffery White of Birchrunville, PA and his wife, Lynn. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alexander White, Ethan White, Marissa Morrisson, Christina Baker, Jeremy White, Gillian Evans and Hilary Evans; and her great-grandchildren, Livia Baker, Desmond Baker, Cooper Morisson, Austin Morrisson and Georgia White.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at the First Congregational Church of Reading, 25 Woburn Street, Reading, MA, on Saturday, May 16, at 11 o’clock a.m. The Celebration will be followed by lunch at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Eris’s name may be made to the charity of your choice or to The First Congregational Church of Reading.
