Dear Reading Neighbors,

My name is Carlo Bacci, and I’m proud to be running for reelection to the Reading Select Board in our Town Election on April 7, 2026. I am seeking a 3rd term to keep Reading moving in the right direction. I have lived here for 17 years with my wife Erin and our 3 daughters Abigail, Sarah and Sofia who all attended Reading public schools.

Over the past few years, I’ve had the honor of serving our town in several key roles, and I’ve worked hard every day to make sure Reading remains a great place to live, raise a family, and grow old together. As Chair of the Select Board (2024-2025), I led our board through challenging times with a focus on practical, common-sense solutions that put residents first.

I previously served as Chair of the Symonds Way Exploratory Committee, where we carefully evaluated options and delivered final recommendations for the best possible future use of that important town-owned land. The area is adjacent to the Burbank Ice Arena, a facility built by Nelson Burbank, and I fully support the important role it plays in our community.

Local elections matter! Here are some of the things I’ve fought for and helped deliver:

  • I am actively fighting against any new taxes or increases in Reading, working to protect taxpayers from unnecessary burdens and ensure every dollar is spent wisely.
  • I took a leading role in negotiating and finalizing our new trash contract, which gives us better service without unnecessary cost increases.
  • I’ve consistently advocated to keep water and sewer rates affordable, so no household feels squeezed by utility bills.

I’m also committed to protecting and improving our quality of life. I supported the Turnback Track Committee in successfully blocking a project that would have hurt our neighborhoods. I’ve worked actively to find a real solution for a dedicated senior building so our 60+ residents have a welcoming space of their own. And as a volunteer with the Reading Pickleball Players Association (RPPA), I’ve advocated for dedicated courts that give players the facilities they need while respecting the peace and character of our neighborhoods.

Reading faces tight budgets, rising costs, and plenty of competing priorities, including discussions around potential future overrides under Proposition 2½. I’ve always approached these issues with a strong emphasis on fiscal responsibility: maximizing existing resources, using free cash wisely when appropriate, controlling spending growth, and avoiding unnecessary tax increases. We must preserve taxpayer protections and only consider overrides as a true last resort after exhausting every option to live within our means.

Thank you for everything you do to make Reading such a wonderful place. I appreciate your trust and your vote.
