Patricia L. (Lyndell) Cassidy, a resident of Reading for 48 years, passed away at the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington on January 20, 2026. She was 79 years of age.
Patricia was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on January 13, 1947, the daughter of the late Harry K. and Mary G. (Mader) Lyndell. Patricia grew up in Somerville and Malden, attended Malden Public Schools, and later Boston College. She was the cherished sister of the late John Lyndell.
She went on to teach French and Spanish at Winthrop Middle School and later at Reading Public Schools and Austin Prep. She also tutored students and was a volunteer with Understanding Disabilities, as well as teaching CCD at St. Athanasius Parish. She loved playing Piano and Guitar, but especially loved singing. She was also interested in Archaeology, studying Egyptian Hieroglyphics.
Yet her greatest joy was her grandchildren, cheering on all their accomplishments and making each one feel special. She was the heart of our family. Pat went on to inspire many students not only in the classroom but as a tutor, mentor, and friend. A real “people person”, whose friendly, warm personality and sense of humor always made everyone feel welcome.
She was the beloved wife of Terrence A. Cassidy of Lincoln, whom she married in 1977. Devoted mother of Lauren C. Luallen and her husband, Jeremy, of Waltham, and Eric B. Cassidy and his wife, Jennifer, of Burlington. She was the loving grandmother of Haleigh, Liam, Logan, Lucas, Ava, Ethan and Keira.
Patricia’s funeral will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Athanasius Church 300 Haverhill St. Reading at 10:30am. Burial will follow at Wood End Cemetery in Reading. Funeral home visiting hours will be Thursday evening from 4-7pm.
