Reading, MA — Last month, Reading METCO hosted two community-centered events made possible by a grant from the Boston Bridges Initiative, each designed to promote cultural connection, engagement, and shared experiences between Reading and Boston families.

The first event celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a lively salsa class at Coolidge Middle School. About 70 residents, parents, and faculty members from both communities participated. Attendees enjoyed an energetic evening of music and dance while learning about Hispanic traditions. Spanish food was also catered, offering an opportunity to experience authentic cuisine and further enhance the cultural celebration.

The second event brought roughly 90 participants of all ages to Boston Bowl in Dorchester for a community engagement gathering. The outing provided a fun and informal setting for families and residents to connect, take part in recreational activities, and learn more about local initiatives. The event emphasized accessibility and inclusion, fostering meaningful relationships across communities.
Together, both events highlighted Reading METCO’s continued commitment to building strong, collaborative bonds between Boston and Reading through shared cultural and social experiences.
