To the Editor:

I’m truly honored to have recently been appointed to the Board of Directors of RCTV Studios by the Town of Reading Select Board. I’m excited to support an organization that has been a cornerstone of our community for over 30 years — providing public access programming, hands-on media education, and a vital platform for local voices.

RCTV has a proud legacy of empowering residents and fostering connections across Reading. As the media landscape evolves, I believe RCTV can — and must — position itself to grow and innovate, expanding its reach through streaming, podcasting, and other digital platforms, while staying true to its mission of providing community television.

I take seriously the concerns raised by the Select Board and see them as an opportunity to strengthen RCTV’s impact through increased transparency, creativity, and community engagement. I’m committed to working collaboratively to ensure RCTV remains a vibrant, dynamic resource for all residents.

As a Town Meeting Member from Precinct 3, I hold open office hours on the lower floor of the Reading Public Library from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the first Saturday of every month. I welcome all residents to stop by to discuss RCTV, share ideas, or ask questions — I’d value the opportunity to connect.

Sincerely,

Ron Powell
South Street
