On Saturday, April 21 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm the Burbank YMCA on Arthur B. Lord Drive will be hosting the annual Healthy Kids Day Celebration. To encourage the healthy development of youth, YMCAs all around the country conducted the first national Healthy Kids Day in 1992. The nationwide event has grown to become the nation’s largest health day for kids and families.
Free and open to the public, Healthy Kids Day became an annual April event, designed to emphasize the importance of play in keeping kids healthy and happy and enhancing their problem-solving abilities, creativity, and motor and social skills. The celebration at the Burbank YMCA will include games, an obstacle course, a bouncy house, face painting, and more.
John Feudo, Executive Director of the Burbank YMCA, stated “With all the distractions of electronic devices and social media, I am glad the YMCA provides an event that is a reminder that health has a place in every kids life. Simply eating better and exercising will always reign over video games and junk food. We are happy to shine a light on that.”
