My opinion is that the only thing that brings value to Reading and to my property value are the Schools. Plain and simple.
Pickleball courts do not improve my property value.
And… Why are Pickleball courts more valued than a Splash Pad for kids? Why are Pickle Ball courts more valued than a bathroom pavilion in the Town Forest? Why are Pickle Ball courts more important than the establishment of e-bike rentals in the center of Town? Why are Pickleball courts more important than a free transit service for our seniors? How about more community gardens? I could go on and on about Town wants.
I will not support an approx. 1.3 million to hasten the override needed to fund basic services for a select group of Reading residents. Instead, I suggest that everyone gets in line and support the Community Preservation Act next year at Town Meeting and let that group be the Judgement of Solomon.
I appreciate everyone getting out there and exercising, but not at the cost to my aging neighbors, who may not be able to meet their basic financial needs because you forced the override down their throats a little bit faster.
