- Operating a Motor Vehicle After Suspension of License

- Leaving the Scene of Property Damage
On Tuesday, Jan. 28 at approximately 10:56 p.m., Reading Police responded to the area of Beaver Road for reports of a white van that had struck a mailbox and was idling.
While on the way to the scene, police received an updated report that the white van appeared to be leaving. Officers were able to locate the van, which had damages consistent with a recent crash, and conducted a motor vehicle stop.
While speaking to the driver, identified as MACARIO, officers detected a strong odor of alcohol emanating from him.
A preliminary investigation determined that MACARIO had a suspended license. During a field sobriety test, MACARIO became argumentative with officers.
MACARIO was arrested without incident. During the booking process, MACARIO became belligerent and uncooperative with officers and was placed in a holding cell, halting the booking process. While in the cell, MACARIO began to damage the cell and urinated on the floor.
During a subsequent investigation and a search of MACARIO‘s vehicle, officers found an open bottle of brandy, a bottle of whiskey, and a cup of what appeared to be alcohol in the cup holder.
MACARIO was arraigned in Woburn District Court on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
