May 25, 1955 ~ November 6, 2024
Philip G. “Phil” Perry, age 69, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on November 6th, 2024, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Phil was born in Winchester, MA, on May 25, 1955, the son of the late Charles and Jeanette (Muse) Perry. Phil was raised in Reading, MA, in a loving family and eventually graduated from North East Vocational Tech in Wakefield. After graduation, Phil went to work, eventually working for the Reading Department of Public Works for 28 years. Phil took pride in being a hard worker.
Phil met the love of his life, Carol when they were set up on a date by friends. The two felt an instant connection and were soon inseparable, marrying 9 months later in August of 1984 and spending 40 years together before her passing earlier this year. Phil and Carol lived in Reading after their marriage before moving to Wilmington in 1989, where they made their home. Phil and Carol completed their family and realized their dreams when they welcomed their only daughter, Maryellen. Along with being a husband, Phil’s favorite role was being “Dad” and later “Papa” to his two grandchildren.
Phil was an avid train collector, amassing a large collection of model and toy trains. He was always on the lookout for the next one to add to his collection and enjoyed going to the local train shows. Phil’s favorite pastime was enjoying relaxing times at home with his family.
Phil was the beloved husband of the late Carol (Higgins) Perry. He was a loving father to Maryellen Shaughnessy and her husband Matthew of Wilmington. Phil was the cherished “Papa” to Tiffany and Matthew. Phil is also survived by many family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62) Wilmington, MA, on Wednesday, November 13th, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. immediately followed by a service celebrating Phil’s life at 12:00 p.m.
