Marjorie Frances “Margie” Joyce of Reading, formerly of Wilmington, age 93, entered peacefully into her eternal life on October 31, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Cornelius “Neil” Joyce. Devoted mother of Catherine Anderson & her husband Robert of Hampton Falls, NH, and Neil Joyce & his wife Anne of Reading. Loving Nana to Michael Joyce and Thomas Joyce of Reading. Loving sister of Paul Fahey & his wife Diana of St. Augustine, FL. Special “Nana Margie” to Sarah (Anderson) Jenkins, Nichole Anderson, and Tyler Fernald, all of Hampton Falls, NH. Loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, Michael & Marion (McNealy) Fahey, and by her sisters Marion Norton, Sister Anne Fahey, and brothers James Fahey & Leo Fahey.
Marjorie began her career working as a secretary at the Boston Herald Traveler, where she met her husband, Neil. After raising her two children, she returned to work as the secretary in the Religious Education Office at St. Agnes Church and finished out her career working for the Reading Public Schools as a secretary at Reading Memorial High School.
Marjorie was known for always giving of herself to others. She brought happiness to all those who knew her. Her friends and family will remember her for her ability to make everyone around her feel welcomed and loved.
Marjorie was known for her passion for ice cream and reading mystery novels. She was a lifelong and loyal Red Sox fan and an active parishioner of St. Agnes Church in Reading for more than 50 years.
Funeral services from the Douglass, Edgerley & Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn Street (corner of Woburn St.), Reading, on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at Saint Agnes Church 186 Woburn St. in Reading. Interment will take place at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA, immediately following. Visiting hours at the Douglass, Edgerley & Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn Street, Reading, on Tuesday, November 5th from 4-7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marjorie’s memory to Christ the King Parish, 186 Woburn Street, Reading, MA 01867 or to the Sisters of Charity Retirement Center, 125 Oakland Street, Wellesley, MA 02481.
The family extends special thanks to the nursing team at Marillac Residence and Elizabeth Seton Residence for the compassionate care they provided over the last three years.
