Obituary: Barbara I. Coscia, 91

November 14, 1932 – October 1, 2024

Mrs. Barbara Coscia, of Pittsfield, MA, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024, just one month shy of celebrating her 92nd birthday. Born and raised in Reading, MA, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Arsenault Meuse and was one of nine children. Barbara lived most of her adult life in Lexington, MA.

Barbara worked well into her eighties as a bookkeeper/accountant. She also was an active volunteer for both St Brigid church in Lexington as well as Sacred Heart church in Pittsfield. She delivered “Meals on Wheels” in the community until she was eighty-eight years old. Barbara always lived by her faith.

She was a fan of all sports and loved her Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins. She also loved any team her kids or grandkids played on and attended their games any chance she could. She was famous for handing out Tootsie Pops at Lexington High basketball games. She was very proud of the fact that she was the only parent ever voted the Senior Superlative #1 fan at Lexington High School rooting for her children’s teams…she won the award three separate years.

Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband, Emanuele “Manny” Coscia, Jr. who passed away in 1997.

She is survived by her three children, Gregory Coscia (Jennifer), Nancy Meadows (Gerald), and John Coscia (Heidi), as well as her eight grandchildren, Samantha (Brian), Gerald Jr., Melissa (Keith), Madison, Sarah (Will), Katherine (Melanie), Jaden, and Kieran. Barbara also leaves behind five great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sibling Vincent Meuse (Rita) as well as many nieces and nephews.
