McNay, Joseph L., age 88, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at BILH Winchester Hospital.
Born in Boston Massachusetts on January 31, 1936, Joseph was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Whalen) McNay. He was raised in Milton and lived in Brockton for many years.
Joe was a kind man. He loved the Boston sports particularly the Red Sox. He worked for many years at Servomation Refreshments Inc. in Stoneham, later he worked at St. Raphael School in Medford. In his early years Joe enjoyed boating, fishing and camping. He met and married his love Carol over forty years ago. Joe and Carol settled in Malden before eventually moving to Reading eight years ago. Joseph and Carol enjoyed traveling. They took many trips to Arizona and Pennsylvania to visit family, as well as taking several cruises to the Caribbean. He loved the thrill of gambling whether it was scratching a lottery ticket or hitting the Casinos. He and Carol often visited Twin River.
Joseph was the beloved husband of Carol A. (Adams) McNay. Devoted father to James J. McNay and his wife RoseAnna of Framingham, Kevin J. McNay and his wife Nancy of Ashland and Cheryl A. Cutler of Lowell. Beloved grandfather of Bridget, Alison, Kristy and Justin. Great grandfather to Jelani, Kayleigh and Kyle.
He was the brother of Robert and his wife Dorothy McNay of Tewksbury and predeceased by his sister Joanne and husband Robert Curley of Scottsdale Arizona. Joe is survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Old South United Methodist Church, 6 Salem Street, Reading, MA on Saturday, September 21 at 11:00 am. Burial will be private at the family’s request.
