Naples – Virginia T. Williams of Naples FL and Reading MA passed away peacefully at age 95 in Seascape Memory Care facility, under Avow hospice care.
Virginia was the only child of Mary Vatcher Tingley and Earle H. Tingley and attended Malden (MA) public schools. As a singer and dancer, she declined the opportunity to further her dance study in NYC and became a secretary for Hartford Steam Boiler in Boston. In 1964, she married her lifelong partner David Williams in the First Baptist Church of Malden, where they remained active for many years. Virginia was a deacon, trustee, church clerk, and lifelong choir member.
After moving to Reading (MA) in 1965 Virginia retired as a secretary and became active in the Malden Old and New Club (local club of MA Federation of Women’s Clubs) serving as President on their 100th anniversary in 1976. She later served at the state level as Music Chairman (3 terms), corresponding secretary, and district director.
After retiring in 2000, Virginia and her husband spent winters in Naples, joined the Naples UCC, and bought a condo in the Vineyards in 2015. In 2023, Virginia’s health prevented them from returning to Massachusetts.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 58 years, David, and several second cousins, including our dear friend William H. Moller III of Billerica, MA. A memorial service will be held at 1PM. on May 8th, in the Gates Chapel of the Naples United Church of Christ, 5200 Crayton Road, Naples.
