Reading Police Department Charges Man with Domestic Assault and Battery

READING — Police Chief David Clark reports that the Reading Police Department arrested and charged a Reading man with numerous domestic charges on Wednesday.

ROBERT KILEY, 28, OF READING, was arrested and charged with:

  • Domestic Assault & Battery Intimate Partner
  • Malicious Destruction of Property less than $1200,
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Assault to Commit Felony (4 counts)
  • Assault with Purpose of Intimidation
  • Interference with Civil Rights

On Wednesday, March 6, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Reading Police were dispatched to a home in town for a report of a domestic assault in progress, with an individual threatening to stab someone with screwdriver.

Officers arrived to find the alleged victim had already fled from the home. Police made contact with a suspect in the incident, identified as KILEY, at the home where the assault was reported.

When officers attempted to arrest KILEY he allegedly resisted and attempted to spit and wipe blood on both officers and EMTs. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation of his injuries.

KILEY was arraigned Thursday in Woburn District Court, where it was determined that he will be held pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for tomorrow.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
