Dear Editor and fellow Reading residents:
I am writing in support of Select Board candidate Tara Gregory. Recently I have had the opportunity to get to know Tara and learn about their background and priorities for Reading. What I gleaned from these conversations is that Tara is an intelligent, caring, thoughtful person who takes the time to listen to distinct viewpoints before making a decision. I can say with confidence that not only do they offer fresh ideas about how to make Reading a more inclusive community, but they want to work with all stakeholders to introduce new ideas and build on work that has already begun. For example, Tara wants to improve pedestrian infrastructure and prioritize accessibility and access, which will benefit all community members. They also see the importance of exploring various options for the MBTA Communities Zoning Project.
Tara set forth on a path of volunteerism and commitment to local government at the age of 17, when they first became a Town Meeting Member. Tara then focused on their education by earning undergraduate and graduate degrees at WPI, and began a career as a fire protection engineer, about which they are passionate. Since moving to Reading, Tara has been an active volunteer in town, specifically as a Town Meeting Member and volunteer with PAIR (Partners and Allies for Inclusive Reading) and Cato- the Coalition of Us. It is evident that Tara cares deeply about this community and wants to contribute to its continuous improvement. I grew up in Reading and I chose to return to raise my family here. I have hope for our town’s future and believe strongly that Tara Gregory is the kind of leader who will move Reading forward in a productive, respectful, and goal-oriented manner.
I encourage you to vote for Tara on or before March 5.
Sincerely,
Mary Christine Kwiatek Paxton
Town Meeting Member, Precinct 4
