Current building limits programming, safety, and comfort for local seniors
Reading, MA — The Reading Council on Aging (COA) launches an outreach campaign this week to provide insight on the upcoming feasibility study exploring how to best serve Reading’s growing 60+ population. The study, projected to launch later this year, uses American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds secured by the Select Board.
To support the Town’s ongoing initiatives, the COA created a video tour of the current Pleasant Street Center, which hosts service and programming for the senior community. This video highlights the deficiencies in the current center that hinder the town from offering the high level of service and programming that Reading’s 60+ population needs. The COA asks residents to take seven minutes to view this video to understand the work it undertakes on behalf of Reading’s senior population and how the current space is no longer adequate to support that work. Community input is welcome and requested: residents may reach out to the Council on Aging by attending COA meetings or contact the Chair at CouncilOnAging@ci.reading.ma.us.
