Obituary: Joseph A. Zimbone, 82

February 10, 1941 ~ April 6, 2023

Joseph A. Zimbone, beloved husband and best friend of Kathleen (Hickey) Zimbone, passed away on Thursday, April 6th, 2023, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House. Joseph was born in Boston and is the beloved son of the late Natale and Santa (DiBlasi) Zimbone. Devoted father of Dina Zimbone Pinkham and husband Richard of New Hampshire. Brother of Stephen Zimbone of Florida and the late Natalie Ruo.

Joe grew up in Boston’s West End and was a graduate of Boston Technical High School, class of 1958 as the senior class president. Joe’s greatest accomplishment was putting together the 50th class reunion, which he affectionately called “a labor of love.” Joe was proud member of the USMCR. He then attended and graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor Degree in Engineering and then earned his Master’s Degree in Engineering Management. Joe was talented at his job and worked as a senior systems analyst for various companies in the financial industry and also taught cobol programming evenings at Northeastern and Boston University.  

Joe married the love of his life of 57 years, Kathleen, and settled in Reading. Joe enjoyed watching Reading High School sports, especially football and hockey. He loved to take walks on the beach with his wife and get-togethers with family and his many friends. Joe was a kind and loving man. He also loved his grandchildren and great-children. He made sure to send daily jokes, and help out whenever anyone needed. Joe will be missed by his loving family and countless friends.

Funeral Service to be held from Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St. North Reading (Corner of Park St. and Rt. 28 at the Reading Line) on Wednesday, April 12th, 2023 at 9:00am followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated in Joe’s memory at St. Joseph’s Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10:00am. Interment to follow Wood End Cemetery, Reading.
