Lives & Locations of Black & Enslaved Residents of Colonial Reading
Join The Coalition of US (CATO) on Saturday, June 12th, 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at the Reading Town Common for a historical walking tour about Black and Enslaved residents, and soldiers who lived in Reading during Colonial times and their role in the town’s history. The tours, which will take about an hour to complete and cover 1.5 miles, will be led by local teachers and historians, as well as RMHS students.

The walking tour begins at the Reading Town Common and will make stops at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Old South United Methodist Church Yard, and the Reading Public Library. Each location is significant in the history of Enslaved residents in Reading. A recording of the tour will be available after the event for those who were unable to attend. Attendees can also drive to each location and parking is available at the library, the town common, and directly in front or behind the Old South United Methodist Church. All current Covid protocols will be in place.
