Thomas G. Coffin, 76, of Wakefield, died Friday, October 25, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born in Panama on February 4, 1948, he was the son of the late Joseph W. and Caroline (Geddes) Coffin.
Thomas was a graduate of Christobal High School in Panama and Canal Zone College. He moved to New York and worked with Verizon for over 30 years, relocating to Wakefield with the company.
Thomas was an active member of several community organizations in Reading and Wakefield. A longtime member of Colonial Chorus Players, he served numerous times and currently as President. He was also President of the Retired Men’s Club and Women’s Club of Wakefield. In addition, Thomas played an integral role in Arts Reading.
Thomas was the beloved husband of Barbara Malek. He was the brother of Lynn Cunnigham and Gerald Coffin both of New York, Marjorie Coffin and Nannette Halliwell both of Pennsylvania, Marcia Wheatley of Florida, Kathy Reca of Virginia, and the late Joseph and Jon Coffin.
His funeral service will be held at the McDonald funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m.
