Mabel C.H. Shin of Reading passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024 at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington with her family by her side. She was 94 years of age.
Mabel was born on April 6, 1930, in Lynn, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of the late Chung Nok and Tai Kwai (Ng) Hong. Mabel was a graduate of Melrose High School class of 1951 and received her bachelor’s degree from Boston University.
Mabel was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Wong Wing Shin, in 2014 and her son, S. Edwin Shin, in 1982. She is the mother of Carolyn Shin, Norman Shin and his wife Eva. Loving grandmother of Brian Edwin Shin and Christopher Erik Shin. She was the sister of the late Roddy Chung and his late wife Tuan Fong Moy, the late Robert C. Wong and his late wife Meiling, the late Marie C. Wong and her late husband Wing Gen, the late Richard C. Hong and his wife Linda, the late Rolland C. Hong and his late wife Jean, the late Marion C. Lee and her husband Hon Chi, and the late Ralph C. Hong.
Mabel’s funeral service and burial are private and there are no visiting hours.
